Czech Job Seeker Visa: Eligibility and Application Process
From 31st of July 2019, third-nationals who hold a long-term residence permit for the purpose of studies or scientific research and who completed their studies at a Czech University are able to apply for a Job Seeker Visa/Start a Business Visa.
The Job Seeker visa is issued for a period of up to 9 months. You have to submit the application no later than the last day of the validity of your residence permit for the purpose of studies. You cannot extend this type of visa for the same purpose after 9 months!
Transitioning from Job Seeker Visa to Business Visa
If you have a Job Seeker Visa or Start a Business Visa, you will be able to switch to a Business Visa without having to meet the 5-year permanent stay requirement in the Czech Republic. In case you don't find the right employment or launch a business within 9 months and decide to study again, it can be switched back to a Student Visa.
One important requirement for getting this residence permit is the successful completion of university studies in the Czech Republic or the successful completion of research. According to Czech immigration law, foreigners with any type of Czech residence cannot change their purpose of stay to freelancing or business before staying 5 years in the Czech Republic.
The only possibility to change to a freelancing visa is going through a Job Seeker Visa. After graduation, you can get a Job Seeker Visa and later transition to a Freelancing/Business Visa.
